Welcome to Spring! The calendar has turned, the weather has warmed and we have 5,500 reasons to be thankful.
When the temperatures drop below 25 degrees, OTN coordinates Emergency Warming Shelters to accommodate unhoused individuals who can’t or won’t go into traditional shelters.
The numbers are in – and they are AMAZING! This winter, with the help of volunteers like you, OTN:
- Hosted Warming Shelters on 47 different nights
- Opened a total of 145 Warming Shelters
- Sheltered more than 5,500 people – people who did NOT die in the cold this year, who did not spend the night in a hospital or jail as an alternative shelter. People who instead were warmed up with hot meals and showers, attended to by outreach workers, connected to needed services, and showed mega LOVE from everyone who gave it all you’ve got to make this happen.
We not only wanted to share these results, but also say THANK YOU for all that you’ve done to help our community during the winter months.
How Your Spring Cleaning Can Help OTN
Spring cleaning and trashing your un-wanted household items? STOP! We might be able to use them.
While monetary donations keep us going, in-kind donations of furniture, clothes, towels, sheets and many other items also help us stay in operation. In particular, we’re currently in need of furniture for the“Welcome Home Kits” we provide to individuals and families who are moving from the streets into housing.
Have some new or gently used items you’re able to spare? Email Lauren@opentablenashville.org.
The Big Payback
