Open Table Nashville will host a volunteer training on Thursday, November 7^th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Belmont UMC, 2007 Aklen Ave, Hillsboro Village. This training is geared toward new and seasoned volunteers and we will have a few different sessions that you can choose from depending on your interests and gifts. This training will cover topics like volunteer opportunities with OTN, navigating the resources in Nashville, foot clinics, Resource Shelters, Emergency Warming Shelters, and more! We’ll also have a time for questions from you.

We will also be collecting in-kind donations at this training, so if you have any gently used (or new) household items, winter clothes or coats, blankets, toiletries, etc. that you can bring, we would greatly appreciate it! Please consider coming to this training, we could not do the work we’re doing without you and want to make sure you have all the tools you need to come alongside us and our friends on the streets! Please spread the word to others who are looking for a way to plug in!

Thanksgiving is just around the bend, and at OTN we have much to be thankful for! We have so many friends who have moved into housing this year, and we want to help them celebrate and give thanks for new life and hope for the future.

If you’d like to put together a feast box AND deliver it to a friend, you may request an address from lauren@opentablenashville.org. If you would like to assemble a feast box (or several) and let us do the delivering, boxes can be dropped off Saturday, Novermber 23th or Sunday, November 24th. (Times and Place TBD . . . thanks for being patient. Ahh, the joys of being “homeless”.)

You can help  our friends settle into their home sweet homes! On the side bar are a few house-warming basics we call WELCOME HOME KITS that you could sponsor with a friend, family members, social club, or church group to show love to our friends.

We are also ALWAYS in need of these basic furniture items: Couches or loveseats, small dining table & chairs, coffee & end tables, and dressers. To arrange for donation drop-off or pick-up of furniture, please fill out our Furniture Donation Form.  Many Thanks!

Lindsey Krinks and Regina Rigney have been added to the OTN staff!  That makes 3.25 of us!  HOORAY!  Lindsey’s new role is a full-time Director of Street Chaplaincy and Education, and Regina is our new quarter-time Volunteer Coordinator. The OTN furniture delivery trailer was stolen on Tues. night. Our van was vandalized. We’re so sad, and more than that we’re distraught that we can’t make the furniture pick-ups and deliveries that we need to make to move our friends into permanent housing. ACK! If you or anyone you know has a box truck or box trailer (8×12-ish) that we can use/ buy for cheap/ or that they’d be willing to donate, please contact us ASAP. LET LOVE WIN!!!  If you’d like to make a donation to help us replace the trailer, please do so here & specify “FURNITURE MINSITRY”
