Last year alone, Open Table Nashville was able to provide 4,180 beds through shelters, log over 13,000 volunteer hours, and help nearly 900 friends living on the streets set up housing-related appointments. To top that off, we moved in over 112 individuals in to permanent housing in 2016!

Though these stats are wonderful, we still have a long way to go in eradicating chronic homelessness. We know it’s ambitious, but we believe it can be done.

The typical public cost for residents in supportive housing is $605 a month, compared with the typical public cost of $2,897, to house similar persons experiencing homeless. That’s five-times greater. This remarkable finding shows that practical, tangible public benefits result from providing supportive housing for vulnerable homeless individuals. The stabilizing effect of housing coupled with supportive care, is demonstrated by a 79 percent reduction in public costs for these residents.
