At Open Table Nashville, we believe that in order to break cycles of poverty and homelessness, we must first understand these cycles. We also believe that it is possible to engage issues of homelessness in meaningful, sustainable, and justice-oriented ways.
We facilitate speaking engagements, urban immersions, trainings, and group volunteer opportunities with the goal of promoting personal transformation and systemic change. To keep this program sustainable and to allow a range of groups, all of our education sessions can be facilitated on a sliding scale donation basis. Urban Immersions
Our immersions have been paused until June of 2023 while we work on some new partnerships. If you’d like to be notified when we begin taking new requests, please email olivia@opentablenashville.org
Urban Immersions are three-hour immersive learning experiences downtown that are co-facilitated by our Education Team members who have experienced homelessness. Immersions are highly interactive and we always adjust the content to the learning objectives of the group. We ask for $17 per person because of the costs associated on our end, but we will always try to work with any group on their budget. Immersions are great for classes and groups who are looking to better understand the systemic elements of homelessness, to learn to see the city from below, and to better understand how to get more involved. To request an immersion, please fill out this form. Due to scheduling limitations, we are currently not hosting immersions on Saturdays and Sundays.
